Natalie Birtchnell is the Implementation & Project Lead for HN Pathology. Bringing 17 years of Histology experience working through the ranks from trainee BMS to Band 7 IHC Lead. Known for her leadership, strategic thinking, and customer-focused approach, she excels in cross-functional collaboration and delivering smooth, effective project implementations. With NCFE certification in Business Improvement & Change Management, Natalie combines technical expertise with a practical, solutions-driven mindset to support high-quality, efficient outcomes for clients.

Chris Sleight

Chris Sleight is a nationally recognised diagnostics leader with nearly 40 years of NHS experience, beginning his career in Pathology in 1988. He rapidly progressed from Biomedical Scientist to Clinical Director and went on to hold senior executive roles across some of England’s largest multi-site NHS Trusts. Chris played a pivotal role in leading major transformation programmes across Imaging, Pathology, Pharmacy, and Community Diagnostics in Greater Manchester. As Chief Officer of the GM Diagnostics Network, he oversaw the implementation of a single enterprise-wide digital diagnostics solution, including regional PACS and digital pathology systems, and led the rollout of the CDC programme locally. A respected national speaker and conference chair, Chris is widely known for his insights into workforce sustainability, digital innovation, health inequalities, and AI in diagnostics. His dedication to service improvement was recognised with a Lifetime Achievement in Healthcare Science Award from NHSE in 2025.
